SMALL ENGINE 101
Never use any fuel that is over 6 weeks old. We only recommend fresh high-octane fuel. Fuel is hygroscopic which means to attract water from the air. Fuel loses, octane points, and degrades in value overtime.
Never top off your fuel container that has old fuel in it with fresh fuel. This will result in contamination of the new fuel.
Do not stockpile fuel. Only purchase a few gallons of fuel at a time.
Label your container with a piece of tape, with the date that you purchased the fuel.
If your fuel is older than six weeks old, get rid of it. If fuel is only slightly old or out of date, you can put it into your vehicle. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, we suggest that you dispose of the fuel at your local landfill.
Have your machine serviced and winterized after its last use of the season. Summer use equipment should be winterized in the fall or winter. Winter time use equipment should be serviced and summarized in late spring.
